History

In 1997, Dr. Myron and Joyce Glick opened the doors of Jericho Road Family Practice (JRFP) at 184 Barton Street on Buffalo’s West Side. The mission was then, and still is, to provide excellent medical care to all who come, regardless of one’s insurance status. In addition to serving patients who are native to Buffalo, Jericho Road Family Practice also serves a large number of refugees, many of whom have never seen a doctor or received proper medical care before coming to the States. Over the past fourteen years, the family practice has grown to include two sites with eight medical providers, and now sees over 30,000 patient visits per year on the West and East Sides of Buffalo.
Jericho Road Family Practice recognizes the interrelation of physical, mental, and spiritual well being. This holistic vision of care, along with its accessibility to the underserved, sets JRFP apart from clinics and other practices. Providing excellent medical care is not enough if one does not address the challenges that this underserved community faces. And a medical practice with limited resources could not do this alone. Thus, as an expansion to the heart and mission behind the medical service of JRFP, Jericho Road Ministries (JRM) was born. Founded in 2003 as a faith-based adjunct to the family practice, the ministry seeks to demonstrate God’s compassion for each person by fighting poverty at its roots, coming alongside the work of JRFP to address the non-medical needs of the surrounding community.
Our programs span a wide spectrum, from mentoring pregnant refugee mothers to helping clients

navigate Social Services, from providing interpretation support to modeling parent-child interaction, from showing people how to manage a bank account to providing support for them as they learn English. For seven years now, we have been growing in this holistic approach, expanding our programs to address community needs on many levels.
In July of 2009, JRM merged with Hope Refugee Services, which strengthened both agencies and expanded the scope of clients we are able to serve. Together, we have the resources needed to better serve refugees and the poor in our community.
